  • 16th Birthday Recap

I apologize for some images being "sideways". I uploaded straight from my camera and forgot to "flip" them.

I think this birthday ranks number 1 of all my birthdays, ever!

Last week, my town had a fair going on for the 4th of July. It was held June 24-27th because the company they hired was all ready booked for the fourth. The fair was small, but a lot of fun. I went on the 24th for a couple of hours to ride all of the rides and play a couple of the games. Do you know the game where you have to aim the "gun" at a certain point, water streaming out of the gun? That is my favorite carnival/fair game ever! This version's aim was to aim at the target which then blew air into a balloon above it, first person to pop the balloon wins. I won that game three times in a row and won two "medium" prizes. The fourth time, my sister stole lucky seat number seven and won. I traded my two medium prizes in so that she could get this giant husky!

On the 27th, we watched the parade in the afternoon and then saw the fireworks that night. The fireworks were really, really good for such a small town.

The plans for yesterday, the actual day of my birthday, were kept secret from me for a long time. I was not aloud to know what we were doing or where we were going until we were sitting in the parking lot facing the building. Don't laugh! We went to Magic Mountain. I absolutely love arcade games and winning tickets for prizes and playing putt-putt (miniature golf) and all that jazz! I was greatly surprised by my Aunt Lisa being there, I love her to death! Her, I forget which, but I think it's the third, and current, husband wasn't able to come because he has the flu currently and can barely walk because he needs knee surgery. I feel so bad for him, he has nothing but a landslide of health problems since before they even met, let alone engaged and married.

Any ways, my grand parents showed up. That includes my grand father, who I despise. Thankfully, they only stayed until we ate something and I opened my presents from them. My Aunt Lisa left as well after that was done. My Aunt Lisa got me Raspberries & Cream shower gel by Bodycology (LOVEEEEE THEM!). I also got a Soft Petals Bodycology set of body spray, shower gel, and lotion I believe, and I got a small box of Russel Stover (spelling?) chocolates. Yum! A check for $30 was also included. That will be going into my savings.

My grandparents got me a small chest which is hand-painted with an elephant on top of it, a beautiful pair of (expensive) earrings, a lot of bangles, smell-good (he he) body stuff, some DVD's, including one they got for me before, and a $50 gift card to Best Buy. When I got home yesterday, I went online to Best Buy and decided what I wanted, then ordered it. I have $4.90 left on the gift card! I bought Kelly Clarkson's newest album, All I Ever Wanted, an old album of Green Day's called Shenanigans, and a Wii game called Puzzler Collection.

After they left, we played a round of 18-hole putt-putt. I came in third place.   When we were down, we went back inside and bought tokens for the games. 280 cost $49. I didn't think that was too bad considering they lasted us most of the time that we were there. We ended up get 104 more tokens for $24. So for less than $75, we had nearly 400 tokens.

There was this game that you put one token in the slot, it fell down a ramp and landed on this round board at the bottom next to a piece of plastic. It would get pushed down the plastic to the edge of the board and at the very edge, their were numbers. What ever number it landed on was the number of tickets you won. There were sections marked one through ten, a few 100 and 200 spots, and a couple of Jackpot spots. The jackpot was raised one ticket for each coin put into the machine between winning it. Both my sister and mother won the jackpot at 100+ tickets at some point of the day, I played it many, many, many times and didn't win the jackpot, but still got more than 200 tickets from it!

There was a game where you had to punch this button which propelled a boxing glove forward into the site of a rubber ducks head. The point was to knock as many rubber ducks over as possible. Then, of course, I had to play the basketball game. I made a ton of baskets playing that, but it doesn't give very many tickets out.

At the end, once we were out of tokens, we had almost 2,800 tickets!! Magic Mountain has these machines that you feed the tickets into and it counts them. We had to take up two of the three sides of the machine and it took more than 10 minutes to feed all of the tickets in!! We went to the counter, and the lady bumped the total to 3,000 to make it even, but the prizes we chose came out to 3,050. She allowed it. I got this funny dog-looking-thing that came with the name Snort Snort Daisy Perkypoo. My sister got this alligator-dinosaur thing. My mom got a Nerf football for our neighbor's grandson, and my father got some key chain bottle opener for a friend of his for his birthday. I would have loved to get a lava lamp that glowed pink, but it was 3,000 tickets alone.

When we were finally done at Magic Mountain, we went back to my father's place for chocolate ice cream cake and for me to open his and my mom's presents.

My dad got me a pink camera, which I have known that my mom bought and then he payed her back so that he could give it to me. All of these pictures are from that camera. My mom got me a 1G Memory Stick for it.

Today, we went to my grandmother's house. My great grandmother met us there. My great grandmother gave me a check for $20, and my Grandmother gave me this beautiful necklace and $17 (one for each year and one to grow on). The necklace is Sterling Silver and Onyx.

We went out to the Olive Garden for lunch. Yes, all of the waiters and waitresses sang their Happy Birthday song. Please ignore my sister's unhappy expressions, she is a grouch everyday that ends in "y".

And that was it! I had an awesome time, but just like that, my sweet sixteen is over, and it's time to start my junior year!

    ~Love,
    Jennifer
